This page is for Chuffers that are under development and where we are waiting for trials or need help with measurements or testing. The vast majority of our Chuffers have been developed with the help of fellow enthusiasts, so if you think you can help, or need help with your loco, then please contact me (Chris Bird) at coxhillcottage (at) yahoo.com
I find myself confused by by this loco designation as I have received two very different sets of measurements for the stack. I supplied shortened versions of the standard 1/4" Chuffer to both customers, but have only had feeback from one who reported, unsurprisingly, that it was fine but a bit high pitched.
This loco is the AML USRA 0-6-0 G731 1:29 scale and I have now designed a custom chuffer (based on the K4 principle) for this stack and hopefully one (the SCAC20) will be winging its way to a customer very soon for test.
I have put the other one (the SCAC16) on hold until I get more data. According to the measurements supplied it has a 38mm stack of a uniform 11mm internal diameter. If you can identif this loco, I should love to hear from you!!
There is a third 0-6-0, the S-12, which is 1:32 scale and has a chimney too small for a Chuffer unless it is modified.
There are two versions of this - one with a straight stack and one with a balloon, spark arrester stack. With the help of one of Zoe Topper's customers in the US, we have now designed and tested a Chuffer for the straight stack version - SCAC14 and this is now available.
We do not have the measurement for the balloon stack version - but I am pretty sure that the standard SCAC6 will fit. If somebody could give me the following measurements, it would be much appreciated!
1. The internal length of the stack
2. The internal diameter and length of the narrow part of the stack.
3. The distance from the exhaust pipe fitting to the top of the stack.
